2003, in an effort to fulfill a desire to find a handbag
with a woman of color on it, none could be found. After
an extensive search of such a handbag the only thing
that could be found was a “Marilyn Monroe” handbag and
it was changed into a “Diana Ross” purse, consequently
Gbabyartwear was born.
Since that time Gbabyartwear has sold over 300 one of a
kind handbags, designed for women from 10 to 59 years of
age. What began, as a simple purse transformed to a
beautiful woman of color, and has since become the most
remarkable line of hand painted purses to date. Gbaby
and Gbabyartwear is a trademark with the name Gbaby as
the nickname of Giovonnie Samuels, one of the co-stars
of Nickelodeon’s “All That” and Co-creator of
Gbabyartwear. The handbags’ Creator is Sylvia R.,
this innovative designer and artist has been setting
trends for over 20 years and she shows no signs of
